Editorial: It Begins in 15 Seconds

If I’ve noticed it, I’m sure you have.

When you go online and want to play a video clip, a little statement appears:  “Your video will begin in 15 seconds.”  And then, immediately, some advertisement tries to sell us something.

We are quickly coming to the place where “the sale” is the most important thing.  I spoke with a person who used to work in television, sharing with him my perception that commercials come closer together now than they used to.  “Oh, it’s not a perception,” he replied, ” it’s true.”

And that means, it’s a sad day.  It’s a day where we have adjusted the “system” to be defined and driven by “the almighty dollar.”

We have not yet seen this:  “Your life will begin in 15 seconds.”  But if we think we aren’t living “the good life” unless we have bought a certain product, it’s already happened.
