Read: Genesis 2:15
We are not the makers of creation, but we are the maintainers of it. All honorable work is divine in nature and sacred in purpose.
Genesis gets it right: God takes us and puts us to work. The taking may be thought of as all the ways we are prepared and equipped for our work. The putting may be thought of as the location and purpose of our work.
The result, as Stott points out, is that creation becomes culture. And when this occurs through the work of men and women who have given themselves to God, the outcomes are beautiful and holy.
