Journey in the Word: Saul’s Later Unfaithfulness

Week 8

Read:  1 Chronicles 10:13

Unfaithfulness was the cause of Saul’s downfall.  Ultimately, it was his unfaithfulness to God.  But it was also infidelity to his own position as king.  A few days ago, we saw that the king was to represent the ways of God to the people.  When Saul ceased to do that, he was done for.

We can never separate unfaithfulness to God and to ourselves.  We are made in the image of God.  When we violate what it means to be human, we will soon be living against God.  Or, when we live against God, it will not be long before we are living against ourselves as well.
