In-Sight: Beyond the “Ho, Ho, Ho!”

Beyond the superficial manifestations of Christmas, there are many people for whom the season is depressing and challenging.  You may be one such person, or you may know others for whom this time of year is a “blue Christmas.”  Let me suggest a couple of things…

(1) Google “a blue Christmas worship service,” and you will find a list of ideas and resources you may be able to use in your church, small group, or some other venue.

(2) If you know someone who struggles to feel the love of God, consider giving them either Brennan Manning’s Ragamuffin Gospel and/or Henri Nouwen’s Life of the Beloved.

We will try your suggestion – my daughter suffers from depression and anxiety. I pray that she can find comfort and joy in a “blue Christmas” service

    Thank you for the suggestions.
