Meditation: “Finishing Well”

Jesus ‘s entire mission was about redemption (v. 34).  This passion kept his mind focused and his heart singular all the to the Cross.  Jesus finished well.

But he did not do so without a temptation to “high tail it” and save himself from the consequences of living with an undivided heart.  Even some Pharisees tried to persuade him to avoid controversy and get away (v. 31).  But he could not.

Lent comes to us each year with the question, “Will you finish well?”–,that is, with your mission in tact and your heart singular?  The question means will you make it to the end with integrity, refusing to “get away” by selling your soul a piece at a time?
