One Response to Gleanings: Giving and Receiving

  1. John Lewis says:

    Dear Steve
Your frequent blogs make it seem like you’re a companion close at hand!
Here in South Africa we have a diminishing British Methodist background and influence. At Holy Communiion Services it was once the practice to receive an Offering for the Poor. A colleague once pointed out that he insisted on purchasing the bread and wine for Holy Communion from the Poor Fund and frequently reminded the Peiople that at the Lord’s Table all are the poor who become rich because of our Lord’s self-offering. We all need the Poor Fund!
Needless to say, this became my approach too.
The Lord bless and keep you.
    John
