Read Isaiah 63:7-9

Meditation: “Think About It”

When I was a child, one of my favorite hymbs was “Count Your Blessings.”  It still is, and it is ajin to the spirit of our passage from Isaiah.  Look at these similarities…

(1) “Count your blessings, name them one by one.”  Isaiah reminds us that we need to sit down and remember all the things God has done for us.  Norman Vincent Peale used to ask counselees to do this, as. way to rekindle their recollection of God’s goodness and to remind them of God’s love.

(2) Count your blessings, see what God has done.”  Isaiah roots our gratitude in grace.  God’s goodness has come to us when we did not deserve it, just as much as when we did–as much when were unfaithful, as faithful.

So, every once in a while, it is a good thing to go somwhere, get quiet…and…think about it.
