Ancient Wisdom: January 26, 2014 (Year A)

Read:  Isaiah 9: 1-4

Meditation:  The Promise Fulfilled

What we anticipate in Advent comes to pass in Epiphany.  Revelation becomes reality.  Isaiah’s words, read as prophecy in Advent, are now fulfilled.

A lot of our life works the same way.  Things we hope for eventually happen.  Dreams are realized.  Goals are reached.  Pans are carried out.  Prayers are answered.

The time and space between the initial vision and its enactment is not dormant or insignificant.  It is a “pregnant” time, alive with gestating (prevenient) grace.  In such times, God calls us to active waiting, which means (among other things) a cooperation with grace as it unfolds.

What are you dreaming of….hoping for?  What do you only now see from afar?  Move toward the Light!
