Journey in the Word: Jacob and the Persevering Love of God

Week 5

Read:  Genesis 32:26

I think Stott gives us an important picture in today’s reading.  There’s no use in using the word “wrestling” unless both parties are wrestling.

God wrestles with us in order to get us into the position where He can bless and use us.

We wrestle with God because He is not a “vending machine” who dispenses His blessings to people who don’t really understand their sacredness and significance.

There’s just enough uncertainty and struggle to make the whole enterprise real.

  1. Ed says:

“God wrestles with us in order to get us into the position where He can bless and use us.”…
Very True….and he never tires…even if it takes years for us to come to submission…
